Cashier/Sales Assistant

Clearys Ltd is a retail organisation operating stores throughout the North West of England and we are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join sales team as a Retail Assistant in our store based in Walkden, Greater Manchester.

Overall Purpose of the Job:

As a retail assistant you will be at the forefront of our stores driving customer service; excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this role as you will be working closely with the customers and other members of your team to maximise sales. Although sales are important we want our customers to enjoy visiting our shops and ultimately come back again, it is your job to provide help and assistance to the customer and ensure they find everything they need whilst they are in our store. Product knowledge is essential for you to respond to customer enquiries and also make appropriate recommendations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Maximise sales by delivering excellent customer service.

Controlling costs and waste.

Till operation and cash handling.

Selling financial products and services to meet targets.

Selling stamps and dealing with letters and parcels.

Paying out pensions and benefits.

Processing bill payments, car tax payments, vehicle registration, and passport and driving licence applications.

Controlling and replenishing stock levels.

Maintaining security within the store according to Company procedures.

Ensuring that all store standards including customer service, health and safety, and food and hygiene are maintained.

General cleaning duties.

To maintain and update administration in accordance with existing procedures.

Applicants will need

Previous experience in retail is preferred but not essential.

Helpful, friendly and comfortable working with the public.

GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent).

To be enthusiastic, committed and self motivated.

To be able to work as part of a team but also on their own initiative.

Available for flexible working hours

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: £12.71 per hour
