About Milvus Advanced
Milvus Advanced is backed by world-leading investors including Hoxton Ventures and Lowercarbon
Capital, and are scaling rapidly from lab breakthroughs to real-world products.
Milvus Advanced is an Oxford-based advanced materials company developing next-generation
nanoalloys that reduce reliance on scarce and expensive critical metals. Our technology delivers
high-performance alternatives across the chemicals and energy sectors while building more
sustainable and resilient supply chains.
At Milvus Advanced, we bring together expertise from material science, nanotechnology, chemistry
and engineering to design innovative materials that match the functionality of traditional precious
and critical metals at a fraction of the cost. This enables manufacturers to improve performance,
reduce procurement risk, and accelerate the transition to a more sustainable future.

About this role
Milvus Advanced is looking for a proactive, well-connected student to become our first Student
Ambassador on your campus.
- You will be our point of contact at your university, helping us work out how best to reach master’s
students, PhD researchers and final-year students in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical
Engineering and related disciplines and introducing us to the people worth knowing.
This is a mapping and relationship-building role, not a sales role. You will not be asked to promote
products or sell. You will be given a short training session before you start, along with clear
guidance on what we are looking for and who to approach.
Key Responsibilities
In practice, that means: - Identify the most effective channels for reaching relevant Master’s and PhD students,
including departmental newsletters, weekly emails, mailing lists, lecture shout-outs and
student networks. - Speak with teaching assistants, departmental administrators, and academic staff to
understand how research and career opportunities are normally advertised. - Introduce Milvus Advanced to relevant professors, researchers and departmental contacts
who may be willing to share opportunities with students. - Connect us with relevant student societies, such as Chemistry, Materials Science and
Chemical Engineering societies. - Help arrange introductory calls between Milvus Advanced and student society committee
members. - Attend selected society or departmental networking events to assess engagement and
identify potential collaboration opportunities. - Provide regular feedback on the university’s communication channels, students’ interests,
and outreach opportunities. - Help identify opportunities for longer-term partnerships, including academic society
sponsorship and future recruitment activities.
About You
We are more interested in how well you know your university than in your CV. If you meet most of
the following, please apply:
Be a current Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD student at your university.
- Ideally studying Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a closely related
subject. - Have a good understanding of your university’s departments, societies, and student
communication channels. - Be confident approaching students, society representatives, university staff and
academics. - Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Be organised, reliable, and able to work independently.
- Able to commit to approximately 3 hours during quieter months, increasing to 12–16 hours
during busier periods. - Hours will be agreed in advance and scheduled around university examination periods.
- Be comfortable attending occasional on-campus networking or society events.
- Enjoy professional networking with others and have an interest in fast growing businesses
Previous involvement in a student society, departmental committee, student representation,
outreach activity or university communications would be beneficial but is not essential.
What You Will Gain
- Paid, flexible work that fits around your studies, hourly rate.
- Practical experience in outreach, networking, recruitment and partnership development.
- Soft skills: confidence in networking, ability to have professional conversations with
academics and senior staff, owning a project end to end. - Build and own relationships with Academic staff, Student societies and Professors
- Gaining valuable insight and exposure to a fast-growing chemical manufacturing company
- Experience contributing to a university engagement programme.
- First-hand sight of all the opportunities at Milvus Advanced as they become available
Expected Outcomes
By the end of the role, you will have helped Milvus Advanced: - Understand the university’s most effective student outreach channels.
- Establish relationships with the relevant departments and academic contacts.
- Connect and build relationships with appropriate student societies and committee
members. - Identify recruitment, event and sponsorship opportunities for Milvus Advanced.
- Recommendations for future engagement at the university.
