National Student Survey Promotion and Engagement Ambassador

The Teaching and Learning Delivery team at the University of Manchester are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic individuals to fill multiple casual hire positions as National Student Survey (NSS) Promotion and Engagement Ambassadors.
The successful candidates will play a vital role in raising awareness of the NSS among eligible final year students, encouraging them to participate and complete the survey, and promoting the benefits and incentives associated with their participation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lecture Shout Outs:
- Deliver engaging and informative shout outs to targeted cohorts of final year students during lectures, promoting the NSS and its importance.
- Effectively communicate key information about the NSS, including the completion process and the benefits of participation, within a very brief window.
- Promotion and Engagement Stand:
- Set up and run a promotional stand in designated high-traffic areas on campus.
- Actively engage with students passing by, initiating conversations to inform them about the NSS and encourage them to complete the survey on-site.
- Answer any questions students may have about the NSS, including those who are not eligible in 2025.
- Utilise supportive and persuasive communication techniques to assist students in completing the survey.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to articulate information clearly and effectively to different audiences, adapting messaging based on the size and knowledge level of the group.
- Public Speaking Confidence: Comfort in addressing both large groups and individual students, with the ability to engage and persuade in various scenarios.
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate a strong ability to connect with students, fostering a welcoming environment that encourages participation.
- Organisational Skills: Proven ability to manage time efficiently and organise tasks effectively, ensuring responsibilities are met in a collaborative environment.
- Self-Starter: With minimal supervision, capable of taking initiative and working independently, while also collaborating effectively with a co-role holder.
- Knowledgeable: Willingness to learn and become well-versed in NSS specifics through provided training resources.
Training:
You will receive comprehensive training on the NSS, its importance, and the details of the promotion strategy will be provided to all successful candidates.
Further details:
- Casual, flexible hours to accommodate university schedules (estimated 1-6 hours per week)
- Working with a co-role holder to deliver shout outs or run an assigned stand on campus as required during assigned hours.
- This is a casual role, there is no guarantee of the number of hours.
- Ambassadors would be paid the standard rate of £12.84 p/h
- Location: across UoM Oxford Road campus
