Bar Assistant (September 2024 Start)

About the role

Come and work in one of Manchester’s iconic music venues – Manchester Academy Venues and the Student Union bar. Work as part of a team of student staff on the bar serving a high volume of customers, making sure all drinks are served to a high standard and at a reasonable pace, while being part of some amazing live music events. All training will be provided to further your hospitality skills which can be applied to a wide range of career options. Flexible shifts and great pay!

Details 

Wage: £12 per hour + holiday pay

Contract: Zero Hours, Fixed-Term until

Hours: approximately 2 shifts per week

Eligibility: you must be a student for the 24/25 academic year to apply for this position

Important: please note that this role starts in September 2024, there are no available shifts before this time

DASS Support Worker (Note Taker)

Are you a University of Manchester student on an undergraduate course 2nd year or above, a postgraduate course or a recent graduate looking to gain valuable on-campus experience and contribute positively to the lives of others? Become part of the Disability Advisory and Support Service (DASS) as a student support worker – notetaker and transcription.

As a notetaker you’ll support a wide range of students who are registered with the DASS service. In this role you’ll be responsible for taking accurate and detailed notes for students in lectures, seminars and tutorials. You’ll also be listening to recorded audio or video and transcribing the content into students’ preferred format and style. You’ll gain valuable experience and transferable skills, to support you now and in the future.

This opportunity is available across all academic disciplines, offering an ideal balance between work and study, with flexible hours to accommodate your academic schedule!

Salary:

This position pays £12.46 per hour + holiday pay.

DASS Support Worker (Practical)

Are you seeking a fulfilling and impactful job on campus? Join the Disability Advisory and Support Service (DASS) as a practical support worker. Your role can truly make a real and meaningful difference to the lives of Disabled students.

We are seeking Student Support Workers to offer practical assistance. Your primary responsibility will involve providing dedicated support to autistic students and those with mental health difficulties while they transition into University life. This role offers opportunities to enhance your employability and develop key transferable skills such as communication, organisation, time-management, active listening, empathy and problem-solving.

There are various work options available throughout the year, allowing you to select times which fit your schedule best. By applying for this role, you are committing to being available to work throughout the academic year 2024-25.

What are you going to do?

Your responsibilities will include meeting students during welcome week, accompanying them to various activities at the beginning of the academic year. Assisting them to locate their classes, libraries, the AGLC and quieter areas of the campus, including cafes.

The position is open to all University of Manchester Postgraduate students, 2024 graduates and undergraduate students going into year 2 or above. This opportunity is open to applicants of all degree disciplines.
